Message from Your Community League Board of Directors - Winter 2024-25
Winter 2024-25
Our Annual General Meeting was held on October 21st, and we took the opportunity to say goodbye and express our gratitude to a few of our departing board members. We would like to thank them for their service.
We thank Shayna Bowling, our outgoing Vice President, who also previously held other positions. Shayna led the transition to G-Suites (now Google Workspace), ensuring our board could share documents, maintain professional emails, ensure our information was safe, and provide appropriate access to our community volunteers. Shayna was also part of the committee rewriting our Bylaws. Shayna will continue to assist with some of our social events. We also recognize Kaitlin Woods, our former Secretary, for her diligent work in recording our meeting minutes. Kaitlin also designed, oversaw the construction of, and managed the community gardens during their inaugural year. A thank you as well to Rene Provencal, a member at large, who led the community memberships program, and Ruth Lysak-Martynkiw, also a member at large and Chair of the Civics Committee. Ruth spent many hours researching large projects happening within the community, collaborating with other community league civic groups and like-minded groups, and advocating Woodcroft’s position to city officials and staff. A BIG THANK YOU to all of you! We would like to welcome new board members Kelley Nesdole, Dave Kenny, and Kris Harrison
Many of you may have noticed construction at the pocket park located to the west of St. Marks school. This was an EPCOR initiative, with a new park design intended to collect rainwater to help prevent flooding. This project also benefits the environment as it keeps the water out of the sewer and going to the river.
We have a few fun months ahead! We invite you to join in and enjoy the events the community league puts on for our members. See the following pages for details on the events.
This time of year also brings many holiday celebrations. You may be celebrating Krampusnacht, Christmas (in December or January), Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa. The Woodcroft Board of Directors wishes everyone a terrific holiday season and Happy New Year!
